I am inviting you to take a virtual step inside the bedroom I am designing for the Philadelphia apartment with Parallel. I wanted to extend my abstract mural and urban eclectic inspiration into this room but with much softer color tones. I feel a bedroom should be relaxing and serene. In a way this room helps you to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and takes you to a toned down softer side that is cozy and relaxing with touches of color and art.
The idea board...
Luckily for this project I teamed up with CORT. CORT offers rental furniture options whether you are moving to a short term rental or need office furniture or even furniture for a special event. They are the best source to rent for short term and having amazing options. All of the main furniture in the apartment is from CORT - including this bed and nightstand. The headboard with nailhead trim and faux crocodile pattern is elegant and contemporary. Most furniture are in great neutral shades so you are able to play with decor and other accessories.
Toby Queen Bed with Headboard - CORT.com
Because of the limited space in this bedroom, I had to play with the furniture lay out a bit and make sure I was offering enough storage space as well. I used two nightstands from CORT - one next to the bedside and another against a wall. Again another sleek and contemporary furniture option..
Dorian Nightstand - CORT.com
The paint color I chose for the accent wall where the bed will be is a soft, icy blue. I love this color! I feel like soft colors like this one are the new neutrals.. so many options you can create with it and you can constantly update with different accent colors without having to make a big change.
Iced Slate - Benjamin Moore
Sonoma 3 Light Drum Pendant by Orren Ellis - Wayfair.com
I chose this shaded drum fixture because of the metal detail and the fact that it's on the larger size. It's dramatic but subtle at the same time. I wanted something elegant but nothing over powering. I truly am so happy how this looks in the space - gorgeous!
Lou Bone/Ocean Area Rug by Latitude Run - Wayfair.com
The plush rug adds style and comfort but more importantly ties in the colors I wanted to use for this bedroom all together - soft pastels that are serene yet chic.
More touches that I added...
Exhale Throw Pillow by Alyssa Hamilton Art - Society6.com
Exhale. My thoughts exactly! This gorgeous, minimal, abstract art is so perfect for my space. What I love about using pillows from Society6 is that are always unique and beautiful yet support local artists that feature their amazing art work. If you haven't already checked out what Society6 offers - go do it, it's a must! Beautiful fine art works printed on pillows, throws, duvet covers, curtains and more. They are truly one of a kind pieces.
Pink Velvet Curtains - Kirklands.com
Plush, velvet curtains add an additional cozy factor to this bedroom.. who doesn't want a touch of velvet lately? It's been on the trend and still going strong. Using different textures always add a different dimension to a designed space. Don't be afraid to play with fabrics and use textured elements in your accents so they blend with your overall design.
