One of the projects I have been busy working on is a really great opportunity with a travel company called Parallel. Parallel offers luxury and unique accommodations in great locations in cities throughout the U.S. If you are ever looking for a short term vacation rental that boasts a cozy home like atmosphere in a uniquely decorated space - check out Paralleltravel.co. Perfect for the travelers who want to experience more!
Peek inside to what I am creating for their Philadelphia location in the heart of downtown. I wanted to use the inspiration of the city itself and how the unexpected pops of color and culture bring life to this urban oasis. Walking the streets of the city with the art brushed mural walls and beautiful architecture help shape the identity. I wanted to bring this into the apartment and bring life into the rooms with other dramatic accents.
The Idea Board....
I love the chance and opportunity to use a color I may not get to use when designing for a more traditional client. That's why I went with teal! It's really showing off to be a lasting color trend that because it's jeweled tone it can remain classic or become very modern and edgy. I love teal with gold accents - and as always I love mixing textures and bringing some metal elements to the design. Just like the city itself is a big mix of culture and diversity I am translating mixing baroque accent mirrors with more contemporary seating and bright pops of color.
I am using this gorgeous shade for one accent wall only to make the impact more dramatic - color is Jade Garden by Benjamin Moore.
Darchelle Pink/Beige Area Rug by Mistune - Wayfair.com
When I saw this rug, I fell in love! When I rolled it out once it got delivered, I swooned! Again, juxtaposition! Bright pops of color with a traditional, oriental design really shows how to update a more traditional look.
Branner 4 Light Candle Style Chandelier by Mercer41 - Wayfair.com
I wanted to keep with the gold accents and this lighting really fits the room. It's a sleek, contemporary take on the candelabra.
Here are a few decor accents I used...
Overdyed Pouf Ottoman by Signature Design by Ashley - Wayfair.com
I love having ottomans or poufs because they are so versatile and mobile. They are great for additional seating if needed and perfect to fill awkward spaces.
Throw Pillow Meet Me Halfway by VessDSign - Society6.com
The pillow I wanted to find a design that ties into the mural I am painting when you first enter the apartment (stay tuned for pictures!) and this one was literally perfect.
Contemporary Gold Sparkling Metal Votice by Willa Alro Interiors - Wayfair.com
I finally found an opportunity to use this wall sconce! It's one of my favorite pieces that I have found doing market and design research - I have shown it in a previous post and the same still goes for how elegant it is!
Stay tuned for more details and updated posts regarding this project. This is just the living room inspiration, idea board, and pieces that I am featuring - there is much more to come!
